Strategic Planning Facilitation for Nonprofits
Passion has the power to move and inspire change, clarifying our deepest values and beliefs. It can help us discover what we don’t want—and what we are saying an enthusiastic "yes" to.
By harnessing this collective source of power and creativity, I provide strategic planning facilitation for nonprofits and facilitate gatherings for harmonious team building, movement organizing, or visioning sessions.
Our Facilitation Offerings
-
Team-Building
Do you want team building meetings that go beyond work to better connect with people on the team? Do you want to engage in activities and conversations that identify shared interests, curiosities, and passions? Are you open to creative and playful ways to surface what moves people for team building?
-
Movement Organizing
Do you want to organize your communities for policy, market and/or culture change? Do you want to engage your communities to identify priorities for your organization's movement work? Are you open to creative and playful ways to surface what moves your communities to align priorities?
-
Visioning Session
Do you want a shared vision for your team, collective or community? Do you want to co-create a vision based on the needs, desires and aspirations of people who need to be building the table together? Are you open to imagining beyond limitations while being realistic about constraints?
We collaborate to identify clear intention(s), plan an equitable and feasible process for community participation, and design activities and prompts. Then I facilitate the session with power dynamics, meaningful inclusion, and accessibility considerations in mind and heart.

- Ginny Santos, CEO and Founder of Neolé Inc.
Case Study: Movement Organizing
Collaboration with caterToronto’s team to co-design and facilitate multiple Open House Organizing (OHO) events in order to identify what is working and not working in food in Toronto so that their community can guide their movement organizing work.
Rather than starting with deficits and problems that often stigmatize and may thwart meaningful engagement, caterToronto prefers assets-based approaches which identify community strengths and interests to organize around.
Testimonial:
“Shilbee sparkled, as she does; by supportively co-designing with our team, facilitating meaningful conversations, and shining a spotlight on significant insights that were written, spoken, drawn, shown, and heard by our diverse community members during caterToronto’s Open House Organizing sessions.
The insights that were surfaced and synthesized enabled us to identify what is working and what are some gaps in food in Toronto. Together, we set the scene for new and old friends of caterToronto to rave and rant about the omnipresence of food, as it exists in our lives, and work, and play.
Her deep understanding of movement organizing and commitment to equity ensured that our work was grounded in the needs and voices of the community."
- Vanessa Ling Yu, Founding Executive Director of caterToronto
Case Study: Visioning Session
Collaboration with EthioCan Bridge The Gap and 50+ community members to envision their futures together through
Collective Community Visioning.
Testimonial:
“It is abundantly clear that Shilbee has a vast wealth of knowledge anchored in years of experience in the realms of programs and projects with significant social impact.
Her incredible ability to actively listen to ideas and reflect them back to us with such clarity and focus is one of her many strengths. She keeps us motivated, accountable and passionate about the reason
behind the work we do.
Shilbee’s genuine enthusiasm and calm demeanour makes working with her
an absolute pleasure and delight.”
